6 Photographers – 3 Days – 1 Epic Slide Show Event

Kokanee Crankworx 2010 is pleased to announce the return of the SAINT Deep Summer Photo Challenge. Each invited professional photographer will team up with athletes of their choice to be unleashed on Whistler’s Bike Park for three days to capture the on mountain action in the prime of summer. They’ll have three days to shoot, edit and compile a slide show to impress the judges…and all of us when we gather for the big night finale. The pressure and prestige is on with $6,000 total prize money and a huge boost to a career on the line.

Note: These are the last weekday sessions of the year, before the program switches to weekends due to daylight an earlier sunsets.

These award-winning camps have been selling out each week, so be sure to sign up while you still can.  The camps are vehicle-assisted, meaning maximum riding time for the kids but they do include some All-Mountain riding to build their fitness. Riders can ride as many as 6 different trails a day!

There are 4 levels for the camp, with small ratios of 6 students to 1 Instructor (max), all led by mature industry professionals who are trained and qualified for entry level riders and advanced riders alike.  We’ve got a level for you at EB!

We had a great time riding with you all over the 3 months that we ran the program.  It was very rewarding to see each rider improve their fitness, accomplish so many of their goals and to see the rewarding results that each of the riders yield.  All of the riders in the program improved their level of fitness, got faster on their bike, learned more about racing tactics and developed great relationships with other members in the program, as well as the coaches.

We actually miss seeing the same riders twice a week (believe it or not!) as they would improve little by little, week by week.  We are planning on running the program again next year, with some improvements so riders can plan to have an even better format to get set for Test of Metal or the BC Bike Race next year (or both!), or even just building a good fitness base for summer.  We’ve already been back to the drawing board a few times to debrief and plan an even better program to build off of the success we had this year.

Kelli had a very strong week of riding and won 6 of the 7 stages to claim the Yellow Jersey for 2010.  Kelli had some good competition, as Heather King, of North Vancouver was really pushing Kelli each day and they had some good friendly attacks going on during each stage.

Congratulations Kelli!  You look great in yellow!

Endless Biking team rider, Darren Butler, also had a strong showing, winning 4 straight stages in the Challenge division before moving up to the Epic division.  Darren got stronger as the week went on, finishing 20th overall on Day 5, 16th overall on Day 6 and 11the overall on Day 7, right on the tire of World Cup professionals Geoff Kabush and Catherine Pendrel.

Each day we set up a great camp in a new location and we all worked toghether to help each other out.  It really was a great week of comaraderie, friendships that will last a lifetime and an unbelievable singletrack experience.

We had the opportunity to ride in North Vancouver, Nanaimo, Cumberland, Powell River, Earl’s Cove, Sechelt, Robert’s Creek, Squamish and Whistler.  Each day was the ‘best day yet’, by the end of the week, each rider had a different favorite day.  This is a real testament to the quality of the course for BCBR this year, it really was top-notch.

I highly recommend signing up for the BC Bike Race next year, they have early bird signup open until July 15.  The race will sell out again next year, even quicker as the word is getting out.
