It is always so great to have most of the people in the industry in one place all there to meet new contacts and make new connections. This show is a marathon.. You have to be able to work all day and all night, and start it all over again the next day. A real balance of talents. • Williams Lake Trip: What an increadible place to ride... On my birthday, Christina Havercourt and I travelled to Williams Lake to meet up with the Rest of the EB Chicka team and the good folks from Loeka Clothing, who provided our Chicka's team with Jerseys this season. The first day we road Desous with a paid shuttle service through Adrenaline Adventures, who provided us not only with 5 shuttle up the mountain, but also a fabulous lunch catered to us at the bottom of our 3rd run at the trails end. Unreal!!

Day 2 was spend at Farwell Canyon. This place took our breath away. After a few runs to get us warmed up down this truly "freeriding" area where there was no trail.. you just created it on your way down, winding through the trees like a fresh powder day on your favorite mountain. After stopping for a bit to eat, beautifully catered to us with a Fraser Canyon view and hoodoos as our landscape, we then went to go ride the day's featured trail "God Smack".

Just as we started to pile out of the van, the clouds were moving in fast and furious. If it was to rain, this line that we were going to ride could become unrideable.. so we had to move.. We jumped on our bikes and rode through the hills to the canyon's edge. On the way it began to thunder and storm. with rain coming down and wind gusting, it felt like someone was trying to tell us something. Like out of a movie, this moment felt surreal. By the time we got to the Canyon's edge the storm had past.. quick but disturbingly effective to create a mood of horror. Now for where we were about to ride. One by one, we peaked over the canyons edge. One rider asked "where is the trail? "God Smack" was an area that had two lines.. one super exposed and committing and the other exposed and technical on the razors edge of a hoodoo. Yikes!!!

One by one, we all faced our fears and made our way down this heart thumping razers edge, some more graceful than others. Wow.. it is those moments that we will remember for a life time..

  • Red Bull Mt. 7 Psychosis: Endless Biking and the EB Chickas drove out to Golden, in the interior of BC, to participate in one of the craziest downhills on the planet. With everyone hitting the dirt a number of times, we were some dusty Chickas. Meghan Illingworth and Monika Marx placed respectibly well in the 5km race on the Saturday. Kat Duffles raced from the Top in the Sandbagger wome class, but had a few mechanicals along the way down (10km).. Amber Zirnhelt and I raced in the Psycho women catagorie, with Amber having a great run, as I picked myself out of a nasty section down one of the insane steep sections on the course, to find out I had broken my helmet, fork and bruised from head to toe. Thankfully my gear did all the breaking and my body is still in one peice. JULY 14-15

  • Red Bull Elevation: Road Trip: Red Bull Canada called Endless Biking to help them fill a bus full of youth to take to the Red Bull Elevation BMX contest in Whistler. Red Bull rented a chartered bus to get us there in Style, with complimentary cold redbulls on hand and a sweet DVD system to keep us entertained on the drive up, when we weren't gazing at the beautiful sea to sky oceans views. I couldn't believe it, when you are that high up and have that big of window.. you can see a lot that you don't normally see. We had a great day at the event. With incredible displays of talent, doing tricks you can hardly comprehend. JULY 1st

  • BC Bike Race- Stage 5: With only 2 weeks notice, Darren and I got invited as special guests to participate in one of the most beautiful stages of the BC Bike Race, from Seschelt to Squamish. The course wound through 60 km of beautiful singletrack, fire road and vista's of the ocean and Islands. With experiencing only one day of this insain event, I came back from the event rejuvinated about riding bikes, amazed at what these athlete who completed the whole event can do. An increadible event to say the least!! It is really amazing what your body will do if you just give it enough water and food!! JULY 5th

  • "Tripple Crown" Ripper Event : This event was hilarious. Darren and I thought to ourselves, that if there was a day for us to ride every one of the bikes we owned, this was the day. So on this seventh day of the seventh month of the two-thousandth and seventh year, we set out to ride seven different disciplines of bikes EACH. We started out at the start line on our BMX's.. as the main pack headed up Mount Seymour Road, Darren and I vered right and went to the local Parkgate skate/BMX bowl, just down the street.

After a warm up on our BMX's.. we soon returned to the parking lot, where we had Tina Havercourt, our bike support girl for the day, help us to change our outfits and bikes to get ready for our next adventure.. road riding tothe CBC Trail Head. Once we ascended the mountain.. we changed into our DH/Freeride gear and bikes (Scott Octaine, Nitrous) and did a great rip down CBC and Neds. The next adventure was on our Scott Ransoms of which we used to get from the bottom of Mt. Fromme to the 6th switchback, down executioner/dreamweaver, over to the Cleavland Dam, over to Skyland Drive up to the 2nd switchback on Cypress Road and up to parking lot 5, just above Mystery Downhill. From there, we changed again into our Freeride/DH Bikes (darren and I exchanged our bikes, so I road the Nitrous and he road the Octane).

After our descent down Mystery DH and the trails back to Obsession bikes, we continued home to get on our Cruiser Bikes to head down to Bella Candella for the after-party. The only bike we didn't get time to ride was our dirt jump bike.. but that's ok.. What a day!!! JULY 7th

  • "Kill me,Thrill me" ride w/ Shimano: Elladee Brown, Shimano's BC Sales Rep invited me to come a long on a ride she had planned with two guys from Shimano Europe. We met them at the camp ground in Whislter and when to ride a local favorite trail " Kill me, Trill me". What an amazing trail.. All sported out in XC gear.. we had a great ride. I was out on my Scott Ransom 30, which was a perfect bike for the trail.

We came in 1st place in our "mixed team" catagory and 6th place over all.. Well done team..
  • Brodie Rat Race: The EB Chickas represent.. with our first race of the season. This fun little downhill course was a muddy mess on race day, but that didn't wipe the smiles of the chickas. For many of them, it was their first race ever. With Pro Elite spots of 2nd, 3rd and 4th going to: kelli Sherbinin, Amber Zirnhelt, and Kat Duffles and our Sport Class girls had a 2nd place finish, with Meghan Illingworth sporting a smokin' fast time and the other chickas tailing not too far in her wake. Nice work girls.. Stay tuned for more.
  • Adrenaline TV - Brazil : By chance, I got to meet Leo of "Adrenaline Television from Brazil, while he was was in Canada filming for a Brazilian TV show called " Adrenaline TV. He Travelled to a bunch of destinations throughout the interior of BC before coming to Vancouver, but clamed after spending the day with him, that the North Shore was the highlight of his trip, and he had wished he didn't have to board a plane back to Brazil in the a.m. During his short visit, I had him come out with me while I taugh a youth dirt jump clinic. I invited a few EB Clinets for him to interview while I was teaching. AfterI finished the camp, we went to Mt. Seymour to allow him to see what everone is talking about in regards to " North Shore Riding". . It didn't take him long to be blown away by our forrests' beauty and the craftmanship of our trails.
