EB Riding Tip:

Cornering tip: To develop solid cornering skills for moderate to high speed flat corners, try rotating your torso to look into the desired direction of your turn with 'all 3 eyes'. As you increase speed, get lower and lower to keep a low centre of gravity, to be able to lean the bike over farther to gain traction and maintain momentum! Have fun!

Well, the BCBR is officially over and everyone at EB is ecstatic that the event is complete. Now it is time to heal the wounds and relax some muscles for a few days.

Team EB had a strong event and successfully completed the 7 day stage race, which will soon become known for being one of the toughest races in the world. The race was an epic adventure and was grueling all the way to the finish in Whistler.

Endless Biking’s team finished in 1st place in the 4-person team category, that featured teams from Mexico, France, Canada and USA.

BC Bike Race Update: Day Six

Posted: July 4, 2008

Day 6 was an unbelievable day for many reasons. There were fierce clouds, overnight thundershowers and the fear of wet, technical trails was setting in with the fatigued rider field. They day was filled with a tremendous amount of single-track, easily living up to the hype. Riders came across the line, ecstatic from the thrills or shattered from the punishing route.

Andreas Hestler threw down the hammer right off the bat and made the pack to work to keep him and his partner in sight, Max Plaxton. Dre and Max broke away with such intensity off the start, that they were never seen again during the race until showing up at the finish line, just after the volunteers and MC! No riders imagined a pace like this was possible, until now.

Now the fun/hard part, Stage 7. Can it be finished? It’s been a long tough trail but you can bet every last dollar that there isn’t one team giving up now, with 6 days under wraps.

The finale, tomorrow…

BC Bike Race Update: Day Five

Posted: July 2, 2008

Day 5 is always a classic, the trails of the Sunshine Coast from Sechelt to Gibson’s Landing are some of the most fun trails we’ve ever ridden. The feeling was mutual among the 400 or so riders still in the field, by far the funnest day yet. The grins were ear to ear!

EB had another strong day, finishing in 1st place again in the 4-person team category. THe giggles were a abundant, as riders were treated to a 13km descent to finish the stage, with shower trucks waiting for them at the ferry. How cool is that?

We’re getting ready for an epic day of Squamish on Day 6 that will combine the best of the Test of Metal course and the Gearjammer, rain is in the forecast and the riders that are new to the area are gettign nervous….. and they should be. Look for Day 6 to really shake the field up.

BC Bike Race Update: Day Four

Posted: July 1, 2008

Day 4 begins early, 4:30am to be exact was the time that the rubber chicken into a megaphone came by the tents to wake everyone up. Although for very good reason as we had a two ferry crossings courtesy of BC Ferries, from Comox on Vancovuer Island to Powell River, then to Earl’s Cove via the Saltery Bay ferry. Pristine BC coastline to say the least! Wow, well worth the wake-up call…. kind of.

The day was definitely rough on everyone’s system but the singletrack on hand was enough to keep everyone excited. Finally, the true single-track experience that everyone was hoping for!

Team EB had a strong day, finishing 1st in the 4-person team category for the 2nd day in a row. All 4 riders are still going strong, in fact, building strength on the way. EB is currently in 1st place in the overall classification.

BC Bike Race Update: Day Three

Posted:

Day 3 brings the fun factor way back up for the BCBR, as riders descend fresh new single-track, courtesy of Jeremy Grasby and the Riding Fool Hostel. Although, slightly shorter at 82km, the day still proved to be very challenging with the heat and with the freshly cut trail. Riders times are consistently ranging from 4hrs to 9hrs, with almost every single rider finishing each stage.

Riders were required to navigate waist deep creek crossings, twice while trying to save some energy for the beautiful trails of Cumberland Community Forest. Riders now prep for a private BC Ferries trip to Earl’s Cove and Saltery Bay and an early 4:30am wake-up call.

BC Bike Race Update: Day Two

Posted:

Day 2 of the BCBR showed no signs of mercy, once again. 125+km of grueling logging roads due to a high snow volumes that still remain from an epic winter. The leader board is starting to take shape and the fatigue for some, and conditioning for others is starting to set in.

Team EB had a strong day on Day 2, choosing to team up and work as a pack to get through the blistering heat and long road miles. From here, the riders get to start to sink their tires into the great single track that BC is known for.

Endless Biking currently sits in 3rd place in the 4 person team category in the overall classification. More updates daily…
